This weekends bizarre and wonderful nugget of random information comes courtesy of Darco Sangermano a 28 year old labourer from Italy. While in partying in Naples with his girlfriend on New Years Eve, Mr Sangermano was struck with a stray bullet which entered into his temple. I know what you are thinking, this doesn't sound like the typical fluffy weekend randomness fodder. Read on.
Darco was rushed immediately to hospital while amazingly still conscious. There, he sneezed out the .22 calibre bullet and told doctors that apart from a considerable pain in his head he felt perfectly fine. The city of Naples is often noted for its lively New Years celebrations and the tradition of firing live ammunition. Tragically three other people were struck with bullets, one of whom has since died.
Mr Sangermano was discharged from hospital soon after being admitted, after a quick check -up. However, the doctor recommended surgery in his home-town of Turin which was subsequently carried out. The surgery's aim was the removal of bone fragments in his nasal cavity. Doctor's expect him to make a full recovery.
